  • 2008 Polk County Family Week Proclamation

  • In 2008 each day had a focus. Several of those days we had ideas to help families. Here are some of those resources:

    • Sunday, November 16th was Family Values. Read Marci Kornstein's talk from Sunday night's event: (MS Word format or Adobe PDF)

    • Tuesday, November 18th, was Family Appreciation.
      Focus on Caring:
Thank someone you appreciate. Encourage families to think of the multi-generational appreciation of their families. Write a thank you note to a grandparent, aunt, elderly neighbor or anyone that has helped you or motivated you. Click here for an example Thank You Card (if you have Microsoft Publisher, you can download an editable copy here).

    • Wednesday, November 19th, was Family Lunch/Dinner.
Focus on Honesty: Eat together with your family-at school, home or elsewhere and use provided ideas (from the website) to start a family discussion and thoughts on honesty. Click here for some honesty questions.

    • Thursday, November 20th, was Serve With Your Family.
Focus on Respect: Show your respect for your community by serving and sharing with others. Click here for some great ideas.
