Family Time Capsule
"There is something very optimistic about a time
capsule. IDEAS FOR TIME CAPSULE: Select an Unsealing Date. Perhaps you want to set a significant date, such as a the kick-off day of next year’s Polk County Family Week--November 10th, a wedding anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Mother’s Day. Storing the Time Capsule. Although you may be tempted, it is not advisable to bury your capsule. You are likely to move or forget exactly where it is buried, and the contents could be damaged by the elements. It’s a better idea to give the capsule a special place in your home -- perhaps the fireplace mantle or on the family piano. Let the capsule become a conversation piece as you show it to friends and family and talk about its significance. Content Ideas. A letter to yourself about your goals or your family’s goals. The date. A picture of your family, home, school or friends. Your favorite family memory--stories that you wrote during Monday night’s activity suggestion. A copy of your family tree. Your favorite food, best friend, favorite movie, what the gas prices are that day. You can add to your time capsule as the year progresses with tickets from a play, a picture or two from a vacation or fun family day together. Have Fun and Make this a Memorable Activity!
