    • 1:20-2:30 pm: Paws to Read--Sharpen your reading skills and make a dog very happy. Read to Smiles Unleashed therapy dogs and receive a free book and a sticker.

Sunday, November 13th--Family Talent Shows 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately we have had some complications with the Lakeland Talent Show and we need to cancel the show at that location. The show still will go on in the Winter Haven location, so please come out and join us there!

Monday, November 14th--Celebrate the Past

• Look at old pictures or memory albums

• Read/tell family stories--each person take 10 minutes to write favorite memory; then share together. Could include these stories in time capsule.

• Fill out family tree (below are links to documents you can use for this):

    • 4-5 p.m. Reading Rock Stars: Honor student from Jewett Academy comes in and reads to children and gives them a free book.

    • Family Craft Day--all day long.

Tuesday, November 15th--Celebrate the Present

• Start a family journal or picture album

• Create a family time capsule*. Could include date, current picture of family, home, school, work, friends, etc, newspaper for the day, list favorite foods, favorite friends.
  *Free Time Capsules (while supplies last) available at Kickoff event on Saturday and Talent Shows on Sunday.

• Place a PolkProud150 patch in your Family Time Capsule.

Thursday, November 17th--Be the Best Neighbor Day--Sponsored by State Farm

• Discounted admission to Skate World with the donation of a new or gently loved book--$1 admission per person and $1 skate rental from 6-8 pm. Skate World is located at 911 N. Lake Parker Avenue in Lakeland.

• Facebook Contest! Post your act of kindness on the Polk County Family Week facebook page for our "Be the Best Neighbor" contest. Your post will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a prize.

    • Mother/Daughter Book Discussion: Mrs. Piggle Wiggle by Betty MacDonald, 4-5 pm. Suggested for girls ages 9-12 years. Grow closer together reading together! This is a funny book about a lady who “cures” children of their bad habits. Sign up at circulation desk and receive a free copy; then read it and bring it with you to the book discussion. Refreshments will be served!

Friday, November 18th--Family Fun Day

• Play games

• All Polk County YMCA's will be open for fun and free family activities.

  • Poinciana YMCA will offer basketball, soccer and a family fitness activity.

  • Winter Haven YMCA will offer family racquetball, family game night, and a family fitness activity.

  • Lakeland YMCA will offer family fitness activities and family game night.

• Watch a movie together.

• Movie in the Park at Eva Park in Haines City (Click Here to view the flyer.)

• Paint for Free at Arts Ensemble Education Foundation located at 1000 American Superior Boulevard in Winter Haven from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Bring snacks and wear clothes to paint in! Professional artist in studio helping you and your family create and share! Please RSVP at 863-293-2700!
